How did you decided who sat where?

fo those of you who are having assigned seating of some sort, how did you decided who sat where? does family sit up closest to the head table? do you break out the bride and grooms side evenly across the room?

well we did immediate family and the dates of the wedding party right up next to the head table. after that it was bascially family members and friends based on how well we knew you etc...everything was split up pretty evenly amongst my fiance and I

We are trying to sit people together who know each other and not mix that up too much. I personally am fighting to keep family away from the head table.... lol. That way, you might have a chance of getting to get more than 2 bites of food (especially keeping mothers as far away as possible!)

we just tried to make sure family was close and that the people at the table knew someone else at the table, after all that it was a free for all...lol
